The National STIs Strategy sits within a communicable diseases framework alongside other
complementary Strategies, most notably the National HIV/AIDS Strategy 2005–2008, the National
Hepatitis C Strategy 2005–2008 and the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Sexual
Health and Blood Borne Virus Strategy 2005–2008. These four Strategies have the common goal
of reducing the transmission of infectious diseases and improving treatment, care and support for
those affected.
