Where did Chris Griffith get this article? It seems to be a pastiche of self-serving spin woven by the legal brothel sector! There has clearly been no regard for fact-checking, as already noted, the "75%" figure is nonsense, and the lack of sources throughout is disappointing.
The title "black sex trade" brings a smile to my lips. Blackmarket references aside, how is it that sex purchased from a legal brothel is morally preferable to that purchased elsewhere? Surely the entire "sex trade" is "black" or none of it is at all!
Despite the portrait Nick Inskip paints of a flourishing "illegal" sector, the reality is, it’s all pretty small-scale. There haven’t been any busts of large illegal brothels I’m aware of, despite an active Police unit dedicated to this purpose. Two women working out of the same address would be classified as illegal but hardly worthy of police attention or community hysteria. Taxi-drivers are regularly getting paid kickbacks to take clients to LEGAL brothels, big deal!
The current trial of a man accused of murdering 28 sex workers in Canada and the recent spreekilling of 5 sex workers in Ipswich U.K highlight the need to ensure the safety of all sex workers. There is nothing "blacker" than the heart of a community who ignore the safety and well-being of sex workers until it is too late.
