"Police to meet brothel rep," Chris Griffith, Courier Mail, 23 Jan 2007
POLICE wanted to meet Queensland's legal brothel sector to hear allegations about the illegal sex industry. The allegations included that illegal operators met regularly for breakfast to discuss the industry, that crime figures arranged for some taxi drivers to be paid commissions to drive passengers to illegal brothels and that illegal prostitutes took part in organised sex tours of rural towns.
Police Minister Judy Spence said police would assess the claims after meeting Queensland Adult Business Association spokesman Nick Inskip.
"He (Mr Inskip) is a very active spokesman for his industry," Ms Spence said.
"However, police advise Mr Inskip has not provided the information contained in (Monday's) Courier-Mail to police officers in the Prostitution Enforcement Task Force."
Ms Spence said pro-active policing had seen prostitution prosecutions increase from 362 last financial year to 600 in 2005-06.
