Dozens of prostitutes are rallying outside the gates of NSW State Parliament, angry at planned laws to crack down on brothels.

A large banner has been strapped to the front gates of the parliament house - declaring “No bad whores, just bad laws”.

2GB Political Reporter Amie Meehan says it's a sight to be seen with sex workers and their supporters dressed in bright red and some with brown paper bags over their faces.

They're protesting a bill set to pass through parliament which will see councils given increased powers to shut down illegal brothels and prosecute their operators.

The changes will also empower local courts to issue orders to cut electricity, gas and water supplies to such premises.
