NSW Government "Brothels Legislation Amendment Bill 2007"

The New South Wales Government in 2007 are opening up increased potential for corruption by empowering Local Councils with closure powers over 'brothels'. In NSW the definition of 'brothel' includes all scales of the sex industry, including private sex workers working from residential abodes. The Sex Services Premises Planning Guidelines 2004 recommended in favour of accounting for all scales and types of the sex industry with proactive Council planning policies. These proposed laws take an alternative direction, rewarding Councils that don't have sex industry policies by giving them the power to close premises even before a premises has a fair chance of being included in fair regulatory structures. Tabled in July 2007.
